Hairdressing Awards
sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional

In 1985, the British Hairdressing Awards - organised by Hairdressers Journal International and sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional - were set up to reward hairdressers who were pushing the boundaries of hairdressing, creating and setting the trends and excelling in this competitive industry.

Each year, hundreds of hairdressers from all over the UK dedicate months of hard work preparing entries for the sixteen categories. There are nine regional categories covering all areas of the UK, six specialist categories, which include a variety of disciplines including Afro, Men’s, Avant Garde and the most prestigious award - British Hairdresser of the Year.

Due to its success, this influential event has been introduced to 14 additional countries throughout the world.

Competitors can be nominated for different categories, starting with regional heats and then moving on to compete at national level. A nomination or a win in their chosen category is a landmark achievement in a hairdresser's career. The ultimate accolade is, of course, to win the title, 'Hairdresser of the Year', and enjoy the unbounded opportunities that this title affords.

Not only does this event ensure recognition from competitor’s peers, it also demonstrates their achievement and quality of work to existing or potential clients. The Hairdressing Awards highlights the participants' keen motivation for professional development, refinement of their skills for better customer service and, of course, pushing the boundaries of cutting edge creativity.
